In December, Tilgear was proud to support the F1 in Schools STEM Challenge launch event in Shropshire. Spanning age ranges of 9 to 19, F1 in schools aims to help change the perceptions of science, technology, engineering and maths. By creating a fun and exciting learning environment for young people, it helps learners to develop an informed view about careers in engineering, Formula 1, science, marketing and technology.





Hosted at the MCMT in Bridgnorth and run by The Stem Workshop, the kick-off day included a range of workshops, giving experience in design visualisation, prototyping and CAD design. 12 local schools attended on the day from throughout the region.

The event marked the launch of the F1 in Schools STEM Challenge, which gives students the chance to create a three to six-member race team and create a car using computer aided manufacturing software before it’s put to the test in a regional competition. The students will take away skills from the launch and work on their designs over coming months before competing to become UK champion in April 2020.
